Becoming an effective and positive digital citizen includes exposure to proper keyboarding. Posture, hand positioning and using the home room keys are introduced to students in grades 2-5. At QAE we are using a web based program called Typing Agent. After looking at the many programs offered, we believe Typing Agent offers students the best practice in a simple way.
I've shared with students my own personal failures and successes with keyboarding. The goal is to expose students to proper keyboarding and to inspire them to begin good habits now. Many students have decided to earn 4-5 stars in each unit before moving on to the next lesson. Students are encouraged to use the finger diagrams to find the keys, rather than looking. Feeling for the bumps on the F and J keys helps them to align their fingers on the home row keys.
Students are not given much time during the school day to practice keyboarding. It's encouraged that they spend 20-30 minutes at home, 2-4 times a week.

Students will use their SPS login and password is Qwerty. (If your child forgets their username, remind them that it begins with <que_>.

I re-learned keyboarding all over again at the age of 25. It's never too late - have fun!
